Before a cold snap

Open cabinet doors under sinks on outside walls.
Let a faucet drip.
Keep the heat at 60 or higher when you travel.
Disconnect garden hoses by Thanksgiving.

If one freezes

Open the faucet it feeds. Warm the pipe with a hair dryer from the faucet end back, never with an open flame. If it has split, close the main and call us.

Frozen pipe thawing starts at $195. We thaw, repair and, when a pipe keeps freezing, reroute it inside the warm part of the house.
